Advise the Area Director on practical and technical aspects of office administration (such as budgeting, purchasing, supply management, personnel administration); perform clerical duties (such
as files management); provide support for Freedom of Information responses; and perform office automation support using multiple software programs and software such as databases, spreadsheet, word
processing, and graphics. Organize and consolidate the Area Office annual budget estimates. Review estimates submitted by Team Leaders and other office staff; review justifications relating to the allocation, obligation, and disbursement of funds based on
historical expenditure records, current program data, and Area Office priorities, projection of future contingencies and changes in personnel, and recommends budget estimates by object class. Prepare annual budget estimates for supervisor's review and concurrence. Review documents (e.g., vouchers, purchase requests, work orders,
contractor invoices, etc.) and assign Object Class Codes. Purchase supplies, equipment and services for the Area Office. Prepare purchase orders (or similar method) and/or use credit card. Requisition office supplies and equipment using GAO and/or DOL/OSHA
channels and procedures. Initiate personnel action requests and provide advice to Director and Area Office staff on procedural matters. Serve as confidential and personal assistant to the Area
Director. Prepare correspondence and responses in support of labor/employee relations issues such as grievances and other issues. Make supervisor appointment and travel arrangements.
Perform a variety of administrative office support functions such as establishing administrative filing system, disposing of obsolete files and records. Prepare a variety of letters and reports involving technical terminology and complicated formats. Uses
multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents. Receive and prepare responses for requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA). Serve as office system administration support primary point of contact. Ensure the office computer system is operational daily.

To qualify, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level; OR One (1) full year of graduate level education. Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying experience include: experience in administrative or clerical work which demonstrated possess of the knowledges, skills, and abilities required to serve as a principal office assistant including all of the following: budgeting experience, procurement experience, FOIA experience, equipment inventory and management experience, time keeping experience. Graduate education: Graduate education may be credited where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one (1) year of full-time study requirement. SELECTIVE FACTOR: Applicants must show possession of the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed.
