This position is located in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Military Administration Department, at the Naval War College (NWC), Newport, RI.  At the full performance level, the incumbent prepares and processes travel orders, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders, travel claims, authorizes electronic fund transfer payment to travel claims and local vouchers, and maintains an automated travel status log for all travel conducted by the Naval War College.  Applications will be accepted at the GS-05 and GS-06 levels.

The salary range for this position at the GS-05 level is: $34,576.00 to $44,954.00 including locality pay.

The salary range for this position at the GS-06 level is: $38,542.00 to $50,100.00 including locality pay.

At the full performance level:

·        Process travel orders using the Defense Travel System (DTS) or the Automated Travel Order System (ATOS).

·        Process travel claims using the Integrated Automated Travel System (IATS).

·        Provide guidance/customer service to faculty, staff, and students on all aspects of travel conducted on Government Travel Requests (GTR).

·        Assist the supervisor in monitoring/administering the government travel card program.

·        Determine PCS entitlements and prepare PCS orders.

·        Research travel issues using travel regulations.  Present information and recommendations to supervisor.

·        Maintain the automated travel log for all travel orders issued.

FOR GS-05:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) processing travel requests and transportation reservations; 2) providing input into automated systems for the purpose of tracking, reconciling, and reporting transportation transactions; 3) providing customer support by responding to routine questions related to travel and transportation processes and entitlements.

0r:  Completion of 4 years of education above the high school level.  Note: This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Or: A combination of experience and education which, when combined, meets 100 percent of the requirement specified above.  Note - only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.  One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

FOR GS-06:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) determining transportation entitlements for personnel and their dependents, coordinating travel requests and transportation reservations; 2) assisting in the processing of group travel; 3) verifying passport and visa eligibility and compliance with Department of State requirements; 4) tracking, reconciling, and reporting transportation transactions using automated systems; 5) assisting higher graded personnel with the administration of the government travel card program.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical compentencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS:
