About the Agency
This position is located in the Office of Equal Employment and Minority Affairs at the Smithsonian Institution. The employee is responsible for addressing complex and sensitive matters involving discrimination at the earliest stages in the EEO pre-compliants process through counseling and alternative dispute resolution techniques.
- Analyzes equal employment opportunity laws, regulations and guidance to complete counseling of pre-complaints of discrimination within the regulatory time requirements.
- Contacts aggrieved parties, witnesses, management officials or other officials to ensure the timely and thorough pre-complaint processing of federal sector EEO complaints.
- Prepares clear, concise and accurate EEO Counselor Reports in accordance with U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Regulations at 29 CFR, Part 1614, EEOC MD 110 and Smithsonian policies and procedures.
- Utilizes alternative dispute resolution (ADR) principles and techniques for counseling, negotiation, reconciliation, and resolving conflict.
