MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must first meet the Basic Education Qualification Requirements listed below:
A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in Biological Sciences, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Chemistry, or related Biological Science disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Combination of directly related education and experience. Education must include courses that are equivalent to a major, as shown in (A) above (24 semester hours of progressive courses in the Biological Sciences field leading to a degree). Experience must demonstrate the applicant possesses the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting the Basic Education Qualification Requirements, applicants must have education and/or specialized experience as defined below.
GS-7: 1 year of directly related, graduate-level education -or- Superior Academic Achievement -or- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service -OR- combination of education and experience.
GS-9: 2 years of directly related, progressively higher level graduate education -or- Master's or equivalent graduate degree -or- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal service -OR- a combination of education and experience.
GS-11: 3 years of directly related, progressively higher level graduate education, -or- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -or- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal Service -OR- combination of education and experience.
SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Superior Academic Achievement is based on 1) class standing, 2)grade-point average, or 3) honor society membership. Specific requirements are: 1) Class Standing: Upper third of graduating class based on completed courses; 2a) Grade Point Average: 3.0 or higher as recorded on official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education; 2b) based on courses completed during the final full 2 years of curriculum; -OR- 2c) 3.5 or higher based on average of courses completed in the specific major field of study; or 3) Honor Society Membership: Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society listed in the Association of College Honor Societies, Booklet of Information, and/or Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities (membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.)
Definition of Specialized Experience: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:
GS-07: Experience in one (1) of the following areas: recreation management, concession management, water conservation, management of natural resources, land management, contract administration, studies involving land and water resources, natural resources studies involving multi-disciplinary teams.
GS-09: Experience in at least two (2) of the following areas: recreation management, concession management, water conservation, management of natural resources, land management, contract administration, studies involving land and water resources, natural resources studies involving multi-disciplinary teams.
GS-11: Experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: recreation management, concession management, water conservation, management of natural resources, land management, fire management, contract administration, studies involving land and water resources, natural resources studies involving multi-disciplinary teams.
This position has a mandatory education requirement; you must furnish a copy of your transcript of college work completed (unofficial copy is acceptable). Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and the date the degree was conferred. Non-submission will result in you being rated as not qualified for the position.
Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, applicants must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position. If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories: 1) Well Qualified, 2) Qualified. Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100 and Veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category. The assessment questionnaire will take you approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Applicants will be further evaluated on the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) through your resume and responses to the online questions
1. Knowledge of, and experience with natural resource and land management principles, practices and concepts; land classification procedures; diverse agricultural practices, irrigation, and production methods applicable to the utilization and management of Federal land.
2. Knowledge and skills in the use of Geographical Positioning Systems and Geographical Information System tools sufficient to perform duties associated with land classification and development of use authorizations.
3. Knowledge of policies, laws, rules, and regulations, and the general ability to understand and interpret them.
4. Skill in oral communication to carry out and implement an effective public involvement program; organize and work with a variety of teams and groups.
5. Skill in written communications to prepare correspondence, permits and letters; organize and work with a variety of terms and groups; and to review and/or prepare reports, budgets, and environmental documents.
