This position is located within the Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic (CNRMA), Public Safety, Emergency Management Department, NSA Saratoga Springs, NY. This position is responsible for receiving and processing calls from military, civilians, and the general public. The incumbent provides police, fire, and emergency medical service (EMS) dispatching for the protection of life and property on board the installation and its Area of Responsibility (AOR).

  • Coordinating mutual aid support based on initial calls with outside agencies to determine appropriate level of service to be rendered.
  • Evaluating emergency and administrative calls in order to dispatch emergency vehicles (e.g. fire, police, medical).
  • Communicating over radio networks for first response dispatch in emergency situations.
  • Disseminating information regarding deployment of personnel and/or equipment and location in responses to incidents.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) processing incoming alarms, emergency, and non-emergency calls for fire, medical, and police assistance; 2) dispatching personnel and apparatus to the scene of emergencies; 3) providing information and initiating directions to incoming callers over the telephone and a radio network; and 4) recording pertinent data, events, and logs.

OR Have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level in any field from an accredited college or university. NOTE: If you are using education to qualify, you must submit a copy your college transcripts.

  • Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary, usually accomplished while the employee is seated at a table or desk. Some walking or standing may be required in the course of a normal workday but not special physical effort or ability is required to perform the work. Incumbent may at times be required to endure stress during emergency calls.

  • Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a Level II area which must remain secured at all times. The work involves everyday risk and discomforts associated with normal office work. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
