This position is located with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in the Office of the Deputy Chairman for Programs and Partnerships, Visual Arts Division, in Washington, DC.

Recent Graduates Program: This program is for individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs and seek a dynamic, career development program with training and mentorship. To be eligible, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years to apply).

Following the completion of program requirements, the selectee may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional (permanent) or term appointment. All conversion requirements will be identified in the Participant Agreement. Program requirements include but are not limited to: 

·                      Successful completion of at least 1-year of continuous service;

·                      Completion of at least 40 hours of interactive training;

·                      Demonstration of successful job performance; and

·                      Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate may be converted

Salary Information:  GS-07: $42,631 - $55,421 per annum.  First time hires to the Federal government salaries are normally set at the beginning of the salary range listed.

As the Assistant Grants Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

·         Convey information about the Arts Endowment, the Visual Arts, and the application process to the field.

·         Provide technical assistance and administrative guidance regarding the electronic grant application submission process and review timeline  to applicants    and advisory panelists, including work sample submission review.

·        Assist with the collection of information from prospective panelists and drafting of panelist approval materials.

·        Receive, review and process applications for funding, including organizing those applications for panel review, following  through the Arts Endowment's complete review process.

·        Research and prepare  a variety of spreadsheets and reports for Discipline Directors and the Division Coordinator using Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Word and other standard software programs.

To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution. 

*Veterans who, due to a military service obligation, were precluded from applying to a Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2 year eligibility period may have their eligibility period extended so that they receive the full 2 years of eligibility. The remaining  2-year eligibility period will begin upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. The veteran's eligibility period may not extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of all requirements of an academic course of study. 

To qualify for this position, applicants must be recent graduates and have 1-year of progressively higher level graduate education; OR Superior Academic Achievement; OR have 1- year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 utilizing knowledge of one or more arts disciplines to provide subject-matter input in a multidisciplinary setting to communicate accurately with internal and external customers; OR a combination of education and experience.  

Superior Academic Achievement is met by one of the following:  Upper third of graduating class based on completed courses; GPA 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 on official transcript based on 4 years college, or based on courses completed in final 2 years of curriculum, or GPA 3.5 or higher based on average of required major courses competed in final 2 years of curriculum; Member of a national scholastic honor society recognized by Assoc. of College Honor Societies.
