Position Summary:  To serve as the leading subject-matter expert for ethical writing instruction on the resident faculty of AFIT/EN, performing a wide variety of duties and responsibilities encompassing curriculum development, administration, contract oversight and consultation as required.  As an instructor, serves as authoritative consultant and troubleshooter, ensuring the effective communication of all activities required for the development, implementation/delivery and maintenance of assigned courses.

 

Initial appointment is Schedule B appointing authority, Not-to-Exceed 3 years.  Appointment may be renewed for an indefinite period thereafter without further announcement/competition.

MAJOR DUTIES:

 

  • Performs Course Director duties. Provides instruction on ethical writing techniques to include academic integrity, plagiarism, research misconduct, misrepresentation, cheating, and proper citations.

 

  • Functions as AFIT's sole coordinator for Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) contract and similar contracts. 

 

  • Functions as AFIT's Civilian Student Coordinator.  Instructs faculty and staff on handling of civilian student issues through face to face discussions and development of a civilian student handbook.

 

  • Conducts extensive research of referenced subjects through interaction with subject matter experts at civilian institutions and incorporates output of research into up-to-date, accurate and timely instruction.

 

  • Determine the most effective training techniques to apply in residence offerings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A.  Successful completion of a degree from an accredited college or university that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position (i.e. English).

 

OR

 

B.  Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS : One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12).  Specialized experience is experience teaching college level education or writing courses; experience with graduate level student administration in the areas of admission, registration, recruitment, curriculum development and community outreach; and experience managing contractor operations.

NOTE REGARDING BASIS OF RATING:  Once the application process is complete, a review of your application will be made to ensure you meet the job requirements.   The Human Resource Specialist reviews your resume and supporting documentation (i.e., transcripts), to determine if you meet qualification requirements  for the position.  After a candidate has been determined to be qualified the candidate will be awarded a score of 70.  Your resume will be forwarded to a Faculty Rating Panel  who will then review your application package and can award up to an additional 30 points  based on the criteria required for the position being filled.   A personal interview and presentation to the faculty may be required of the top applicants.
