As the Accountant you will be responsible for the following tasks:

·        Obligate documents that may include grants, cooperative agreements, travel, transportation, supplies, training, printing, charge cards transactions, each according to its specific requirements.  Verify that appropriate approval is granted, and the funding and coding is valid.

·        Prepare invoices for payment in the Oracle Delphi system, each type of document according to its specific requirements; ensure that obligations are matched and coding is appropriate; approvals are received and funding is available before submitting to Certifying Officer.

·        Assist Director in the issuing of travel charge cards, overseeing cardholder activity, maintaining records and preparing calendar year reporting.

·        Ensure that all payments made have been “Treasury Confirmed” in Delphi.  Research Treasury’s canceled payments, contacts payee for corrected bank information, ensure that system and all related parties are properly updated “recertified payments” are made.

 In addition to the basic requirements:  Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 performing duties such as: reconciling a variety of finance accounts for completeness, accuracy and compliance with laws, regulations and policies; providing technical assistance to vendors or agency staff; creating reports using Word, Excel, Access or other software; and monitoring financial data integrity with recommendations for resolving financial issues to a supervisor.

Education: Basic Requirements


Bachelor’s Degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. OR a combination of education and experience—at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Background must include one of the following:


1. 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;


2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination;
