This position is located in the Department of Internal Medicine at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Ft. Carson combines scenic beauty, pleasant residential areas, and cultural activities to satisfy every taste. It is an unusually well-rounded military community which offers a variety of recreational and cultural opportunities. World-class ski resorts are available within a short 2 1/2 hour drive, golf courses and biking trails are available on the installation as well as in the surrounding community. Numerous colleges and universities are available for continuing education.

As a Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Internal Medicine, you will:

  • Provide individual, couple, family, and/or group psychological counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to adult patients.
  • Evaluate patients' psychological test results to develop patient treatment plans.
  • Utilize objective and measureable outcomes to evaluate treatment effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide psychological and/or clinical consultation with other professionals and paraprofessionals to develop patient treatment plans.
  • Provide psychological treatment to behavioral health patients presenting with the most difficult and/or complex cases.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.  Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: performing bio-psychological social evaluations, conducting psychotherapy, and administering or interpreting psychological tests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.  For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Ability to Provide Clinical Assessments
  • Skill in Providing Therapy and Treatment
  • Skill in Program Administration
  • Knowledge of Psychological Testing
