JOB SUMMARY:

The Defense Health Agency, National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR-MD) is the future of Military Medicine- a partnership in World Class Medical Healthcare. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Dilorenzo Clinic and the Joint Pathology Center, provide world class medical services to the nation's service members and their families.

 

National Capital Region- Medical Directorate has announced a reorganization using Reduction in Force procedures effective 15 November 2014. If you are hired into this position you could be impacted by a reduction in grade or movement to another organization within the Medical Directorate. No employees will be separated through this reorganization. Current Federal Employees who are selected from this announcement will receive a change in tenure status for a 1 year period; this change will impact the retention standing of the selectee.

You will perform a variety of administrative functions associated with health information. Determine eligibility treatment status for all personnel requesting health care services. Provide information on eligibility status and requirements to patients in order to create appropriate medical records. Perform back up patient registration functions utilizing the Composite Healthcare Computer System (CHCS). Establish and maintain medical records ensuring all necessary forms and documents are present, accurate, and complete in accordance with various current regulatory requirements. Respond to a variety of requests for medical records. Interpret and apply privacy act information request for the release of medical health information. Conduct analysis of medical records and quality assurance studies to gather information and statistics and make recommendations to improve procedures for providing medical health information. Retrieve medical documents and reports from CHCS and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) systems. Utilize the CHCS Medical Records Tracing Modulate (MRT) to create medical records for new patients.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: maintaining medical records; answering phones; and inputting medical data into automated systems, such as CHCS and AHLTA. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the below Selective Placement Factor:

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
