This position serves as the Clerical Assistant in the Music Division with responsibility for assisting the Administrative Officer in a variety of clerical duties essential to the operation of the division. Under the supervision of the Assistant Chief, the Clerical Assistant provides general office support by filing and maintaining documents and records, performing office automation work, file maintenance, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. Other duties include but are not limited to, assisting with the handling of ticket distribution for concerts, typing travel authorizations, maintaining donor databases and reading room statistics, and receiving visitors and telephone calls to the Division office.

The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
The incumbent of this position will work a fixed work schedule (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.
Relocation expenses will not be authorized for the person selected under this vacancy announcement.
Assists with basic tasks related to office support services. Based on an understanding of the structure and workflow in the organization, performs general office work.
Anticipates staff needs for office supplies; periodically takes inventory and orders supplies through appropriate channels.
Serves as an alternate Time and Leave Clerk in the absence of the Division Secretary.
Uses advanced office automation software applications to track correspondence, maintain calendars and schedules, produce general forms, and to send/receive email messages with multiple types of attachments. Uses word processing and spreadsheet programs to create, edit and store documents.
