This position is located in a branch or cost center in the Industrial Production Activity Control Division, Fleet Readiness Center East, Cherry Point, NC. This position has full assigned production control responsibility for one or more aircraft, aircraft engines, or equal systems. The selectee works with the supervisor in a team relationship, and provide expertise in production control operations. Serves as a senior controller for lower level controllers assigned to the same area.

Advises Shop Supervisors and Branch Head of priorities, schedules, adjustments, and man-hours required to satisfy depot’s commitments.

Coordinates the use of manpower, equipment, and material in the overhaul and repair of aircraft, engines, and related components.

Investigates reasons for delays and determines and identifies work stoppages or anticipated work stoppages.

Monitors, coordinates, and expedites the flow of materials or parts.

Ensure prompt and positive action, including controlled backrobbing and cannibalization, to alleviate bit and piece parts and material shortages.

Provide training and assistance to lower-level controllers.

Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) application of production control methods, techniques, practices, procedures and operations; 2) utilize computer systems to store, interpret, and retrieve production process information; 3) control backrobbing and cannibalization to alleviate bit and piece parts and material shortages; 4) recommend adjustments to resolve production scheduling problems and expedite production completion deadlines; 5) provide training and assistance to lower-level controllers as assigned or needed; 6) investigate reasons/causes for production delays and stoppages; recommend solutions to alleviate production operational problems.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.  All qualifications and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

This is a Noncritical-Sensitive IT-II position. It meets one or more of the Category II AIS (Low/Moderate Risk) criteria of SECNAV M-5510-30 dtd June 2006, and if misused, has the potential of causing seriouos impact/damage to national security.

This position may require overtime, shift changes, weekend/holiday work.

Completion and passing of a physical examination is required.

This position requires regular visits to production areas which invole moderate risks and discomfort and requires safety precautions. Responsible to use approppriate and required safety equipment.
