This vacancy is for an Economist position in a Division or Branch in the Industry Economics Accounts, located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, DC.

The individual selected for this position will:
*Major Duty 1: Prepares, revises and analyzes estimates of components of gross domestic product.
*Major Duty 2: Analyze economic data and develop estimates of economic statistics.
*Major Duty 3: Engages in research projects, recommends and implements improvements to estimates, and prepares documentation of estimates.
*Major Duty 4: Communicate economic concepts, methods, and results with contacts inside and outside the organization.
*Major Duty 5: Develop computer applications to make estimates of economic statistics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade or Band Levels:
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Band II (GS-9 Level) To qualify for the band II (GS-9 level), you must meet the basic requirements listed above and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-7 level) or band II. Examples of qualifying experience include individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation; supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; or teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree
