You will:

- Provide technical support and program coordination for Safety and Occupational Health program operations for Region 4, Atlanta and Athens.
- Represent Region 4 Agency-wide, region-wide, and division-wide on Health and Safety process improvement committees.
- Develop and implement a safety training program for office and field personnel.
- Serve as a Safety and Occupational Health representative interacting with facilities management, General Service Administration, Contract Officers, and external Federal regulatory agencies.

You must have experience related to safety and occupational health; OR a bachelor’s degree in safety or occupational health fields that included 24 semester hours of study relating to safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene or closely related fields; OR received certification as a Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Health Physicist, or similar certification that included successful completion of a written examination.

You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience defined as managing or directing Safety and Occupational Health programs in analytical laboratories, field investigation worksites, or office or warehouse environments; and disposing of waste using the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA).

Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of national safety and occupational health laws, principles, policies, such as: Resource Conversation and Recovery Act and Toxic Substances Control Act; 2) Ability to coordinate program operations; 3) Skill in oral communication; 4) Skill in written communication; 5) Ability to improve processes; and 6) Ability to develop a training program.


If you are selected, you must complete a one year probationary period.

This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation.  Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.
