This vacancy is for a Supervisory Economist position in the International Economics Directorate, Balance of Payments Division located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, D.C.  The incumbent will serve as the Current Account Services Branch Chief.

This position is in the competitive service.

One year probationary period may be required.

This is a supervisory position.  If not already completed, the selectee will need to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period. 

Relocation expenses WILL NOT be paid.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.

The Full Promotion Potential of this position is: ZP-05

This position may be filled through means other than the competitive promotion process.

Salaries shown for this vacancy include locality pay.  Applicants interested in relocating to a different geographic location should be aware that their salary is subject to change.

Duties

The individual selected for this position will:

Major Duty 1:  Produce economic estimates based on the concepts and definitions of the U.S. international economic accounts.

Major Duty 2:  Analyze economic data, particularly data on international trade.

Major Duty 3:  Oversee research to improve the accuracy and relevance of economic statistics.

Major Duty 4:  Communicate in person and in writing to explain economic data or topics or to resolve technical issues.

Major Duty 5:  Review written material and economic data for release to the public.

Major Duty 6:  Oversee the operations of the Current Account Services Branch.

Major Duty 7:  Plan, direct, and review work performed by staff.
