Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Intern Program.

The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.

The Department of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program.

To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Interns must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
  • Complete their degree or certificate requirements
  • Meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
  • Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and;
  • Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

    You will utilize established styles of presentation to prepare short or simple documents such as reports, staff papers, and memos. You will assist higher graded employees in the preparation of background materials. You will research background data, verify data, rewrite and/or reorganize text to convey information in a clear and concise manner and compiles visual aids, as needed. You will also coordinate the preparation of documents with other offices as required. You will assist specialists and supervisor in planning and conducting Command-wide functions (i.e., budget, human resources, public affairs, logistics, strategic planning or information technology).  You will apply knowledge of the organization's programs and operations and judgment to select appropriate guidelines and procedures to perform a full range of administrative assignments and resolve recurring problems. You will perform a variety of recordkeeping, reporting and informational duties. Locate and compile data or information from files for correspondence and reports. Makes copies and assembles documents.

    General experience: To Qualify applicants must possess one year of general experience.  General experience is defined as: utilize word processing software to produce documents such as correspondence, reports, staff papers and memos.


    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities)in the following areas:

    • Ability to perform clerical work
    • Ability to research
    • Knowledge of preparing reports
    • Ability to coordinate

    You may also qualify based on your education.  You must have completed two (2) full year of academic year of post-high school study or an Associates Degree.

    OR Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience described above may also be used to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-04 level.
