The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is widely considered to be one of the best retirement plans in the world and a model for defined contribution plans.  We are seeking a champion for its continual improvement.

The FRTIB is an Independent Federal Agency responsible for administering the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). We help Federal employees and members of the Uniformed Services retire with dignity by providing benefits similar to private sector 401(k) plans. The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is widely considered to be one of the best retirement plans in the world and a model for defined contribution plans.

The FRTIB is looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as an Information Technology Specialist skilled in researching new and emerging IT technologies, innovations, and research sufficient to provide advanced guidance in developing and implementing new IT solutions and systems in support of the programs of the Agency and the administration of the Thrift Savings Plan, a daily-valued, participant-directed retirement savings and investment plan for Federal civilian employees and members of the uniformed services.

The major duties of the position are:

  • Providing technical expertise, support, and guidance on the research, development, and implementation of IT solutions and systems involving new innovations and emerging technologies in support of the programs of the Agency and the administration of the TSP;
  • Performs research to improve and replace processes and develop new systems and applications for delivery of products and services;
  • Develops TSP participant value through innovative solutions that meet new needs, unarticulated needs, or legacy participants needs in new ways;
  • Identifies system deficiencies and tracks their resolutions;
  • Participates on IT projects, task forces, and committees.

To qualify for this position, applicants must provide all required documents and meet the core competencies and specialized experience as described below:

Specialized Experience: Experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and is equivalent to the GS-12 grade level.

The Specialized Experience is defined as experience which involved experience conducting research and analyses on a wide range of complex IT issues, advances, innovation, and emerging technologies.

Possess the IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3.
