This position is open to currently employed technicians working at AASF 2 of the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

This position is located in the Training Operations Branch of an Army National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF). The position is responsible for providing instruction, evaluation and examination of rated pilots flying techniques and methods of instruction, examination and evaluation. Instruction involves basic and advanced techniques for flying aircraft using instruments. Incumbent is also responsible to the Facility Commander for all aspects of aviation/ground safety matters as the AASF Aviation Safety Officer.

·        Plans and implements flight training and instruction for rated pilots IAW Applicable Army & FAA regulations.

·        Advises and represents the Commander on all matters concerning aviation/ground safety related to the facility.

·        Develops, maintains, and rehearses the current accident and pre-accident prevention plans for the aviation facility.

·        Develops and insures maximum distribution of safety literature and materials to all facility personnel.

·        Receives, investigates, and reports on all alleged facility safety violations and safety-related suggestions.

·        Serves as an advisor to the facility commander and others on safety concerns or missions support by the facility.

·        May perform duties as Instrument Examiner in assigned aircraft.

·        Performs other duties as assigned.
