To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-05 or GS-06).
For the GS-06 level, specialized experience is defined as use of medical terminology to perform medical records coding and assigning ICD-9 codes.
For the GS-07 level, specialized experience is defined as use of medical terminology to perform medical records, implementation of quality assurance procedures and regulations, complex processing of assigning ICD-9 Codes, auditing, and coding of complicated medical records that are identified as difficult to classify.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
· Skill in Performing Coding Audits
· Knowledge of Medical Coding Procedures
· Ability to Analyze Medical Data
· Ability to Communicate in Writing

Conditions of employment
