The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-11 to GS-13. The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidates education and experience and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

SCHEDULE: M-F, 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM. You may be required to provide service evenings and
weekends as needed.
The incumbent serves as a staff psychologist in the Compensation and Pension Clinic, where he/she completes full diagnostic evaluations for a variety of mental health disorders, providing psychological assessment as needed to complete these tasks. The incumbent also may serve as a member of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System's Prevention and Management of Disturbed Behavior Committee and completes violence risk assessments as part of these duties.
Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic
services including the use of psychological testing for patients within STVCHS
in areas of special interest/expertise.
Performs psychological evaluations for
individuals with mental health and medical disorders for purposes of diagnostic
clarification and Compensation and Pension recommendations. These evaluations employ a comprehensive
diagnostic interview, review of available records, collateral contact when
available, as well as objective, and cognitive test when indicated.
Provides a range of psychological
therapeutic interventions with individuals with mental health and medical
disorders utilizing empirically supported modalities when indicated.
Consults with and serves as a resource for
other professional personnel concerning the need for, evaluation of, and
development of psychological services in STVHCS.
May be asked to assist in the selection,
training, and supervision of staff at lower grade within assigned program
areas, Psychology Service, or STVHCS.
