Duties: The Canandaigua VA Medical Center is recruiting for three full-time physicians in Primary Care: two for Canandaigua; one for Rochester.   Applicants must  be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. The physician will be a member of a PACT team and will work with an assigned multidisciplinary team that includes a medical social worker, clinical pharmacist, and an integrated behavioral health provider.

 

Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate Carrying (15-44 lbs); Light carrying (under 15 lbs); Straight Pulling (4 hours); Pulling hand over hand (4 hours); Pushing (4 hours), Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (4 hours); Standing (4 hours); Kneeling (4 hours); Repeated bending (4 hours); Climbing, leg only (1 hour); Climbing use of legs and arms; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other; both eyes required; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted).

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements
:  

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.  This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave:  Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.  VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service.  This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.
