Colorado National Guard Dual Status Technician Announcement Technicians are employed under the authority of Title 32 USC, Section 709, which states, in part, that technicians are to be employed in "the administration and training of the National Guard," and "the maintenance and repair of supplies issued to the National Guard."

Technician Note:  The compatible AFSC for this position is 2T3XX.  Failure to maintain AFSC compatibility can result in termination.

This position is located in the Multipurpose Maintenance Section of the Vehicle Management Flight, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support, ANG Aviation Wing.  The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair and modify various types of motor vehicles, both gasoline and diesel powered.

Major Duties:

Inspects general condition of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles to determine overall vehicle condition, cause of malfunction or need for repair.  Performs required repair of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles as assigned, using independent judgment and own initiative on the repair work.  Performs body repair and corrosion control, repaints and refinishes surfaces as required. Prepares, maintains and submits maintenance work orders for man-hour and data collection accounting.  Assists in establishing and maintaining adequate bench and special stock support levels and appropriate tools and equipment. Participates as OJT Instructor in the vehicle maintenance area.  Conducts instructional classes on methods and procedures of operation and maintenance concerning all aspects of vehicles and assigned shop maintenance support equipment.  Assists in conducting the local occupational safety and health training program, to include compliance with directives and procedures for proper disposal of hazardous waste products. Operates general and special purpose vehicles, base maintenance and materials handling equipment, as required to support the unit mission.

Performs other duties as assigned. Assists in review and maintenance of technical orders, operating instructions, commercial publications, MAJCOM and local publications, as well as other pertinent directives.

Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following: 
1. Experience or training performing a variety of complex automotive maintenance procedures without assistance. 
2. Experience which demonstrates knowledge and use of a wide variety of test and measuring instruments in identifying the need for repair and adjustment or in checking the tolerance and fit specifications of repaired components and assemblies.




Preferred Experience: 


 Must have a 3 skill level.


Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position

Military Requirements Military skill set is determined by AFSC requirements.  Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC.  Specific requirements are found in: references listed below, NGB Compatibility tables and your local Personnel section.


*Other Requirements For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.


For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
