Qualifications must be met by the Closing Date: You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by Friday, June 20, 2014.
Basic Requirement - To qualify for this position, you must have:
A. Earned a Bachelor's degree in professional engineering with curriculum in a school of engineering with at least one engineering curriculum accredited
by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Or,
B. Earned a Bachelor's Degree in professional engineering. The
curriculum must have included differential and integral calculus. The curriculum must also have included courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in 5 of
the following 7 areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics;
(b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics;
(e) electric fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; and
(g) any other comparable area of engineering science or physics, such as
optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Or,
C. Not have a Bachelor's degree in professional engineering, but have completed 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical and
engineering sciences, and in engineering that included the courses specified in
B above. The courses must have been fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a
professional engineering curriculum. Or,
D. Earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an
appropriate professional field such as physics, chemistry, architecture,
computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology AND have one year of
professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering
supervision and guidance including an established plan of intensive training to
develop professional engineering competence. Or,
E. Successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training examination and earned
one of the following: (a) a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (BET)
from an accredited college or university that included 60 semester hours of
courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, OR (b) a BET
from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and
Technology (ABET). Or,
F. Current registration as a professional engineer. This registration must be with a State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico; OR this
registration must be in general engineering or a directly related engineering field
and was gained by State grandfather or eminence provisions. Or,
G. Completed an engineering degree at a foreign college or university and had the
courses accepted for advanced credit in engineering by an accredited
college or university in the U.S.; OR, an engineering degree from a foreign
college or university that was evaluated by an organization specialized in the
evaluation of foreign education and has stated that the education is equivalent
to a professional engineering program at an accredited college in the U.S.
Minimum Qualification Requirement - To qualify for this position, you must also have:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 Federal
grade level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and
abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of such
specialized experience include developing comprehensive contract requirement
packages; supervising an acquisition office in procuring computer systems; and establishing
plans for the strategic development of long term acquisition goals.

Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

- Background Investigation: You may need to successfully complete a background investigation before appointed into the position.
- Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period.
- Time in Grade (TIG): Current employees, Transfer and/or Reinstatement Eligibles must have a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade GS-grade level to be eligible under Merit Promotion. An SF-50 must be provided which shows your current pay plan/series/grade to verify time-in-grade requirements are met. Failure to provide an appropriate SF-50 will result in an ineligible rating.
- Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
