As a Biologist in the Office of Center Director/Office of Research at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) you will serve as a biologist, providing laboratory assistance to senior investigators by performing a variety of laboratory experiments in supports of research programs and projects.

  • Collaborates with research scientists to discuss scope and objectives of research projects.
  • Performs experiments in accordance with approved methods and procedures.
  • Maintains complete, detailed records of all experiments performed.
  • Performs laboratory experiments in tissue culture, molecular biology, or protein biochemistry.
  • Maintains and manages the functions and integrity of the working research environment.

To qualify for this position you must meet the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification stated below:


Basic Requirement:

 

Have completed a bachelor's or higher degree in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines from an accredited college or university. (Must provide transcript) 

 

- OR –

 

Combination of education and specialized experience. (Must provide transcript)

 

 

In addition to the basic requirement listed above you must also meet the minimum qualification listed below.

 

Minimum Qualification:

 

Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service, assisting in biological experiments and/or techniques and procedures in support of scientific research projects.

- OR - 

Have two years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Master's degree or Master's or equivalent graduate degree appropriate to the position. (Transcripts must be submitted at the time of application)

 

- OR -

 

Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education that equals 100% of the total requirement. (Transcripts must be submitted at the time of application)


This position requires specific coursework and/or a degree to meet the basic education requirement. You must submit an official transcript, unofficial transcript, or a list including courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. Your transcript(s) must clearly demonstrate the course(s) listed in the qualification requirement section.
