About the Agency

This position is located in the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI). The incumbent will report directly to the Supervisory Educational Resources Specialist. The purpose of this position is to help develop and present content for the Library's online and in-person educational outreach programs and projects. The incumbent may be assigned to work on such projects as a member of a team or independently.

The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.

The incumbent of this position will work a flextime work schedule.

This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.

Plans, develops, and presents a training program on behalf of the Library of Congress to a wide range of K-16 educators, with a special emphasis on pre-service teachers.

Develops and implements programs that include key components for success, such as teacher skill enhancement, critical thinking and research skills in students, and staff partnership with The Library of Congress and its educational resources. Develops outreach efforts such as special programs and workshops to supplement teachers' classroom and curriculum efforts. Recommends new and revised educational programs and initiatives based on implementation experience. Participates in, and at times leads meetings with personnel from internal and external groups and programs to develop or evaluate complex training programs for teachers based on an understanding of stakeholder needs.

Researches, compiles, drafts, and publishes multidisciplinary teaching materials for a broad range of programs, using Library of Congress materials. Curriculum materials utilize primary sources in a wide variety of media, and are made available in print and online. Provides editorial review services for other educational outreach team members. Prepares and contributes to program-related correspondence, reports, and/or written analyses that include information having a direct impact on programs and activities across organizational lines.

Coordinates Educational Outreach team's publication efforts. Ensures alignment of publication projects in print, on-line, and in social media outlets. Coordinates logistical and content support for the Library's Summer Teacher Institutes. Evaluates program content and instructional materials to develop products supporting education standards. Reviews materials to ensure they adhere to policy and accepted techniques.

Actively develops network of colleagues within and outside the Library. Develops and maintains direct liaison between the faculty and state and local administrative or professional organizations, the educational community, etc. Conducts internal Library of Congress sessions on behalf of the Educational Outreach team about Education Programs. Is an active member of one or more professional organizations. Participates in local and national education activities as an advisor, panelist, program developer, author, presenter, and/or chair. Conducts briefings and debriefing sessions for management and/or team leader on a regular basis, sessions demonstrate planning, implementation, and analysis of programs.
