JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

This is a temporary appointment and may be extended up to an additional year with a total of two year.

This is a Encumbered position.

About the Position:
You will serve as Operations Officer for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Information Technology (ACE-IT) under the direct supervision of the Division IT Chief, receiving administrative guidance from the District IT Chief, for the local activity assigned, with full authority and sharing responsibilities for and participating in planning, organizing and managing all technical and administrative functions of the local Division/District assigned.

    As an Information Technology Specialist, Policy Planning, Operations Officer, you will be responsible for directing policies, procedures, and operational changes to increase program effectiveness and mission accomplishment. The duties of the position include but are not limited to:

    • Establish local priorities, clarifies responsibilities, eliminates duplication, and resolves conflicts to include asset management.

    • Determine optimum approach in the total management of the Asset Management Program, providing technical and policy direction.

    • Coordinate staff actions and tasking.

    • Direct work to accomplish the mission by developing objectives and informing staff of goals, revised policies, new and revised requirements, and provides guidance to accomplish new tasks.

    • Review, analyze, and evaluate actions and taskers and activities through correspondence, reports and briefings, and recommends, or directs necessary actions.

    • Develop policies, processes, and procedures pertaining to operations.

    • Develop solutions to problems and directs implementation.

    Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:  Applying IT policy and planning concepts and practices; developing long and short range planning guidance in accordance with broad agency program policies and objectives in the IT enterprise architecture, project management methodology, IT planning, acquisition, and management processes; and planning, programming, and budgeting regulations, guidelines, and processes to establish priorities for IT investments and support capital investment planning.

     

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

    • Planning and Evaluating
    • Communication
