This is a Forestry Technician (Timber Sale Preparation) position on the Bradford Ranger District on the Allegheny National Forest. The position is responsible for marking timber and timber sale preparation.
This position is being concurrently announced under Merit Promotion Announcement Number 14-0919-14800G-RM. Current or former Federal employees may apply to both announcements, but should be sure to apply to the Merit Promotion Announcement in order to avoid losing consideration since different referral criteria apply to each type of announcement. Duties listed are at the full performance level:
Independently estimates volume, defect, and quality of timber in a given area. Selects and marks trees to be harvested or left uncut. Traverses harvest unit boundaries, road locations, and determines area. Prepares area maps and marks boundaries. Summarizes cruising and marking data and prepares reports. Serves as a Qualified Timber cruiser performing routine timber cruises and surveys to determine quantity of timber. Performs other resource or fire duties as qualified and assigned. May lead a small crew of 2 -3 temporary employees in timber sale layout.
