The incumbent serves as a security assistant and performs different kinds and combinations of work in support of the hazardous materials program. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate some independence in planning time, and coordinates only as needed with a manager or specialist to prioritize tasks and use assigned resources. Assist managers and other employees in day-to-day operations, and may act as a lead for other support staff to coordinate multiple assignments. Typical duties include, but are not limited to the following: Assist with program maintenance and tracking. Establish and maintain records in the Enforcement Investigations System (EIS), issue Enforcement Investigation Report (EIR) numbers, and take subsequent administrative actions. Input and/or retrieve data from various systems such as the Suspected Hazardous Objects Encountered in Screening (SHOES), Aviation Hazmat Portal (AHP), and Executive Information System (EXIS). Track discrepancies, compile trend data, and develop reports. Coordinate and participate in hazardous materials outreach events. Provide program information and assistance to staff personnel, performing a full range of administrative functions such as, assist with the review and presentation of documents and reports, use of various systems to include the Consolidated Automated System for Time and Labor Entry (CASTLE) and GovTrip. Based on required documentation, initiate purchase requests using government purchase card and record transactions in the appropriate financial systems such as the Purchase Card Processing System (PCPS) and the Regional Information System (REGIS).

Performs other duties as assigned.

To qualify for the position at the FV-F level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience (52 weeks) equivalent to the next lower level of FV-E or FG/GS-7-8 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but not limited to: experience in operating computers and computer programs to track and monitor a variety of administrative programs; experience organizing, prioritizing, and independently performing administrative work; and experience presenting information consistent with targeted audience.
