This position is ideal for expert Management Specialist who will be responsible for managing the financial and business components of FEMA's grants and assistance responsibilities. EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
In this position, you will be responsible for the review and improvement of grants management practices, policies, and procedures throughout the Agency, which includes monitoring and evaluating operational activities for headquarters, regional, and field offices. You will also be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining a variety of policy and other support activities related to the award and administration of contracts, and grants. Typical work assignments include:
Serves as the Deputy Director of Grant Operations and is responsible for assisting the Director of Grant Operations with the development and improvement of FEMA’s grant and cooperative management processes, providing policy, procedural and technical advice, guidance and interpretation on FEMA grants.
Establishes policies and procedures to ensure standardization, efficiency, and effectiveness across 10 FEMA Regional Offices and Headquarters.
Provides briefings on grant programs to staff-level FEMA and DHS components and other entities as needed.
Supports the development of comprehensive training programs for FEMA staff with grant management responsibilities to ensure they have the required skills and knowledge to effectively carry out required functions.
Ensures that FEMA grants are consistent with relevant Federal grant and cash management regulations.
