This position is located within Maintenance Services, Justice Buidlings Services, Facilities and Administrative Services Staff. The Justice Buildings Services is responsible for performing functions with respect to the operations, maintenance, repair, preservation, alteration, furnishing, equipment and custody of the Robert F. Kennedy, Main Justice Building (RFK/MAIN). Under the direction of the supevisor, incumbent performs a full range of pipefitting and plumbing duties in RFK/MAIN.

As a pipefitter, you will be responsible for the following:
• Installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifiying new and existing piping and plumbing systems such as hot and cold domestic water, sewers and all plumbing fixtures.  
• Planning and producing layouts of the installation and modification of high pressure systems such as sizing pipes, valves, traps, sizing and installing proper braces and supports to allow for expansion, contraction and vibration, determining the proper elevation and slope.

For the WG-10: You are able to perform less complex Pipefitter tasks including performing work that involves periodcally inspecting piping system and equipment and fixtures using diagnostic technicques, independently assembling, installing and repairing replacement pipes, fitting and fixtures of steam heating, water, sanitary, and storm drainage systems; testing systems and equipment for proper operation, circulation, flow, pressure, and leak-free joints; Tracing and troubleshooting pipelines, systems and equipment; Installing and modifying high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems.

Physical Requirement

 

In addition to meeting the requirement above, you must meet the following physical requirement.

Work may be performed in cramped or awkward positions, for which you must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and/or crawl to access work area and/or complete task. You may have to lift objects weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and upon occasion, in excess of 50 pounds.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
