This vacancy is for a Supv Economist position in the Direct Investment Division, Direct Transactions and Positions Branch located at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis in Wash, DC.
The incumbent will serve as the Chief of the New Foreign Investment Section.

The individual selected for this position will:
Major Duty 1 - Design and process economic surveys.
Major Duty 2 - Use and apply survey methodology and data collection knowledge.
Major Duty 3 - Communicate in person and in writing to explain economic data or topics or to resolve technical issues.
Major Duty 4 - Oversee the operations of the section.
Major Duty 5 - Plan, direct, and review work performed by the staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade or Band Levels:
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to meeting the Basic Entry Requirements above, applicants must have the experience listed below.
To qualify for the Band IV (GS-13/14 level), you must meet the basic requirements listed above and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12 level) or band III. Examples of qualifying experience include experience managing, supervising, or leading a team; experience translating survey responses into an economic accounting framework; experience with data collection techniques and survey methodology; and experience analyzing economic data and identifying discrepancies.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

KSA 3 - Experience with data collection techniques and survey methodology.
KSA 4 - Experience directing and coordinating the application of statistical techniques to produce quality economic statistics.
KSA 5 - Experience providing guidance and briefings to staff at all levels inside and outside of an organization.
KSA 6 - Ability to translate company survey responses into an economic accounting framework.
KSA 7 - Experience as a manager, supervisor, or team lead.
