The incumbent acts as a financial analyst for the 17h Risk Assessment Program in the Division of Trading and Markets.


Typical duties include:

  • Serving as a technical expert and supporting the Branch Chief in briefing senior management on financial performance and issues related to liquidity, market, credit and operations risk at the regulated entities.
  • Performing various reviews to understand the structure of the regulated entities and interconnectedness with their material affiliates to identify, assess and aggregate risk.  
  • Planning, coordinating and leading on-site meetings and conducting on-going communications with management from the regulated entities on matters related to the rule 17h supervision.
  • Planning, directing, or conducting projects, such as those involving new or complex financial instruments, with emphasis on risk management and capital treatment. 
  • Researching, preparing and presenting industry trends and emerging concerns related to regulated entities to senior management. 
  • Monitoring the regulated entities that are experiencing financial difficulty and collaborating with other SEC Divisions and other regulators to perform effective risk assessments.
  • Developing technology and methodology for conducting exhaustive and intense analyses of assigned projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement.  
SK-14:  Applicant must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level: creating or analyzing statistical models used to measure and aggregate risk; performing economic analysis; planning, directing, or conducting projects, such as those involving new or complex financial instruments, with emphasis on risk management and capital treatment; and/or developing recommendations to senior management.
