JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Location:

Fairbanks is host to many different cultures; unique shopping and dining facilities as well as sporting activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, snowboarding and skiing. We have spectacular views of the Northern Lights and larger than life ice sculptures. Population is about 87,000. Winter brings consistent snow conditions from November through March. Winter temperatures average 8 degrees F to -19 degrees F; Summer temperatures rise into the 70s and 80s.

The advertised salary does not include our current rate of 5.57% tax free Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

 

This position is TERM not to exceed 2 years.  It may be extended up to a maximum of 4 years.

*    Serve as the focal point for the coordination of civilian health care services and the resolution of problems 

    between patients, providers, fiscal intermediary, and the Medical Treatment Facility

*   Schedule appointments with appropriate health care provider and inform beneficiaries of appointments

*   Advise and assist TRICARE beneficiaries of benefits and benefit options from health care agencies and programs

*   Perform office automation work using typewriter and PC

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  Specialized experience is defined as: experience in which you have worked with patients and medical staff to find medical resources and care to meet patient needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-05. 

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

  • Skill in Financial/Reimbursement Processes
  • Skill in Communication
  • Skill in Office Procedures  

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
