This position is located in the Maintenance Department at the Naval War College in Newport, RI. The electrician is responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, troubleshooting and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment in industrial, institutional, and office buildings. The electrician is responsible for following the maintenance schedule and inspections or work orders, performing maintenance and minor construction services, diagnoses system or equipment malfunction and repairs as necessary.


·      Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and controls such as wiring systems in buildings, power and control circuits and distribution panels.

·      Tests and repairs circuits, equipment and controls to ensure the proper routing, placement, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of machinery, lighting, heating, and security systems within commercial and institutional buildings.

·      Works in compliance with the National Electrical Code to determine the proper size, type, shape, and arrangement of wiring, conduit, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical devices for proper and safe operation of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
