NSD is responsible for supervising the enforcement of all federal criminal laws related to counterterrorism and counterespionage, except those specifically designed to other divisions.   NSD also serves as the Department of Justice's (DOJ) liaison to the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) and the USIC before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.   In addition, NSD advises the Attorney General regarding all matters of National Security Policy.

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), National Security Division (NSD), Office of Law and Policy, located in Washington, D.C.

Perform liaison and advisory services for a demanding organization requiring prompt solutions, and adept resource managing ability to handle its complex human resource related issues and providing problem solving practical advice. Review correspondence complex in nature, reports, and written analyzes that include information established to govern the organizations activities, issues and/or typical operations and conveys innovative procedural advice and interpretation of policy guidelines and procedures to resolve major conflicts surrounding program goals.  Develop new methodologies to execute a variety of special assignments requiring extensive coordination with other departments, external agencies and the private sector to address existing program needs.  The incumbent performs in-depth, rigorous analyses of administrative processes to scrutinize if program objectives are being met, and to identify deficiencies in changing program requirements that prevent the accomplishment of program goals and make recommendations based on analysis of data for improvements in program policies, procedures and operations for the organization. To establish best practices review manuals, technical guides, and existing policy guidelines, to identify the impact of current standards as it relates to program oversight and objectives to ensure efficient support of the office.

To qualify for the GS-14:  You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service performing liaison and advisory services for a demanding organization requiring prompt solutions, adept resource managing ability to handle its complex human resource related issues and while providing problem solving practical advice, reviewing all correspondence complex in nature and conveying innovative procedural advice and interpretation of policy guidelines to resolve major conflicts surrounding program goals and developing new methodologies to execute a variety of special assignments requiring extensive coordination with other departments, external agencies, and the private sector to address existing program needs and completing in-depth analyses of administrative processes identifying deficiencies; making recommendations for improving program policies, procedures and operations for the organization. Establishing best practices, reviewing manuals, examine technical guides, and existing policy plans, to identify the impact of current standards as it relates to program oversight and objectives to ensure efficient support of the office.

To qualify for the GS-13:  You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service performing liaison and advisory services for a demanding organization requiring prompt solutions, adept resource managing ability to handle its complex human resource related issues and while providing problem solving practical advice, reviewing all correspondence complex in nature and conveying innovative procedural advice and interpretation of policy guidelines to resolve major conflicts surrounding program goals and developing new methodologies to execute a variety of special assignments requiring extensive coordination with other departments, external agencies, and the private sector to address existing program needs and completing in-depth analyses of administrative processes identifying deficiencies; making recommendations for improving program policies, procedures and operations for the organization. Time-in-Grade: Federal Employees must meet-time-in-grade for consideration.
