Serves as a Legal Administrative Specialist (Litigation Support Specialist) responsible for supporting the litigation needs of the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO). Provides technical assistance to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, eDiscovery, trial preparation, and trial presentation. Applies a basic knowledge of Federal Criminal and Civil procedures, court requirements, and district practices to implement computer applications needed for criminal and civil cases. Analyzes automated litigation support functions and recommends changes to increase the system efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level.

Specialized experience is defined as experience assessing service and information requirements needed to complete automated litigation support (ALS) projects. This would include knowledge of database creation and utilization (using programs such as Concordance, Law Pre-Discovery, Relativity, IPRO, Sanction TimeMap and CaseMap); electronic data acquisition and processing; pre-trial and trial support, including courtroom presentation services.

Education: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as an LL.B or J.D.; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

 

GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) - The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
