About the Agency

 

This position is located in the Network Infrastructure Service and Support Branch within the Division of IT Operations, under the Chief Information Officer (CIO) organization. The CIO establishes policy for and provides management oversight of the planning, budgeting, acquisition, operation, and maintenance of information and information related resources for the Commission.

Position IS included in the BARGAINING Unit.

--Perform a variety of studies regarding design, modification or maintenance of existing systems.

--Develops plans or technical specifications and detailed recommendations.

--Prepares and conducts disaster recovery testing and validation procedures.

--Defines user requirements, scope and expectations, identifies problems and provides alternative solutions.

--Be aware of interrelationships and integrations of systems, software & equipment in the process of accomplishing assignments.

--Work with a variety of technical or subject matter specialists when working projects or coordinating efforts.

--Work independently or with others on assignments.

GS-12: In order to meet the minimum requirements for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Experience maintaining a data center and knowledge of a disaster recovery plan.  

    
GS-13: In order to meet the minimum requirements for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: In depth experience maintaining and managing a data center and maintaining and implementing a disaster recovery plan.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

--Knowledge of industry IT standards and policies within an ITIL working environment.

--Knowledge of information technologies to include distribution and maintenance of Commercial Off-theShelf (COTS) Software, in-house developed applications, Microsoft Active Directory and networking concepts.

--Knowledge of computer techniques, requirements, methods, sources and procedures sufficient to evaluate and develop alternative approaches to problems within an assigned functional area.

--Knowledge of managing a data center and it's policies and procedures.

--Knowledge of project management and the ability to apply project management principles to lead teams in a variety of technical initiatives using coaching, facilitation, consensus-building and planning techniques.

--Knowledge of managing and implementing a disaster recovery plan and exercise.
