GS 11: To be eligible at the GS 11 level, you must meet ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level.
Specialized Experience is defined as performing the following types of duties: IT planning and policy activities focusing on organization needs and requirement; diagnosing and resolving IT problems, resolving IT customer support requests involving integration or configuration related issues, analyzing configuration management processes and procedures and developing and recommending processes, software, and procedures to ensure effective configuration management; replacing computer components, testing and repairing a wide variety of hardware and software from various manufacturers; providing training and assistance to customers using a wide range of equipment and systems used for transmission of information in data, voice, and/or video format; creating or advising others on the technical development of web pages; maintaining and updating Sharepoint intranet sites. Experience will also demonstrate possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving, and Infrastructure Design.
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in one of the areas described above leading to such a degree.
GS 12: To be eligible at the GS 12 level, you must meet ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.
Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: Evaluating and resolving hardware and software problems; adapting precedents and making significant departures from standardized approaches to meet user requirements. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
