The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164. This position is a Custodial Worker with the Department of Defense Schools (DoDDS). The Custodial Worker performs a variety of cleaning tasks which require physical effort and involve the use of hand and/or powered cleaning equipment. Specific instructions are provided on when and what to clean and the methods to use.
This is a
part time, seasonal (school year), temporary position, NTE one year. Benefits
are not authorized.

Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two schools systems, the Department of Defense Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS). DoDEA employs more than 12,000 individuals responsible for the education of approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments. DoDEA is currently accepting applications for the above position(s).

Independently performs the full range of cleaning duties in an assigned building or other area. Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors
using brooms, mops, industrial-type floor scrubbers and other heavy powered
cleaning equipment. Dusts waxes and
polishes office furniture, table tops, desks, chairs, lighting fixtures,
windows, window ledges and woodwork. Maintain restrooms in clean and sanitary
condition. Cleans and maintains walls,
carpets and ceiling surfaces.
Occasionally works on ladders/scaffolds to clean and/or replace ceiling
fixtures, walls, replace light bulbs and other similar tasks. Works outside for general maintenance activities,
(picking up debris, minimal landscaping, cleaning outsides of windows). Sets up and takes down cafeteria tables,
chairs and trash cans. Periodically
packs, unpacks, moves, arranges and stores furniture, materials and equipment
as required. Opens and closes schools. Maintain parking area, sidewalks, curbs,
ramps, pathways and signage, by cold patching surfaces, painting lines and
symbols, replacing signs and performing weed control in cracks and roadways. Maintain playgrounds, athletic fields,
preparing fields for specific event, setting up and moving sports apparatus
