This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Water Treatment Plant Operator without more than normal supervision such as: testing and operating potable and limited capacity pumps.

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.
A pre-appointment physical examination is required.
Selectee must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license. Must maintain an on-base driving privileges.
Selectee must possess a Water Treatment Plant Operators Certifications Grade C-Well or higher.
Selectee must obtain, and maintain, the required North Carolina C Water Treatment Plant Operators Certificate Grade C-Well or higher (at their own expense) within six months of being hired.
Selectee may be required to report to duty during destructive weather conditions such as ice and snowstorms, high winds, and hurricanes.
Selectee may be subject to emergency recall for work during off-duty hours when an emergency arises to include weekends and holidays.
Selectee will be required to work shift work and/or rotating shift work, weekends, and holidays.
Overtime may be required.
This position requires normal vision and hearing (hearing aids are permitted).
Work requires heavy exertions when handling bags of chemicals weighting from 50 to 100 pounds.
Work requires prolonged standing, walking, climbing ladders, working on catwalk above open pits, and exposed to extreme temperature changes (from warm inside to cool/cold outside).
Selectee may be required to work in wet and chemically impregnated pits and deep tanks that are wet and occasionally unsanitary for extended periods of times.
Selectee may be required to traverse stairways routinely throughout their tour of duty.
Selectee will be exposed to chemical dusts, corrosive acids (liquid and gas), chlorine gas, ammonia, and working on wet/icy catwalks.
Selectee will be required to utilize Personal Protection Equipment while performing tasks that might expose them to hazardous chemicals.
Approximately 85 percent of all work is inside.
