Duties listed are at the full performance level

• Personally responds to non-technical requests for information regarding office functions, status of reports, and other information as needed. Keeps employees informed of Human Resource policies and regulatory changes in areas of leave/lump sum procedures, promotions, OWCP, etc. Audits timesheets and prepares/audits reports. Makes appointments and prepares change actions for approval by the supervisor.

• Receives calls and visitors, and based on knowledge of programs and operations, personally handles calls of a routine nature and refers others to appropriate personnel.

• Processes data including validation for correctness and entry into existing or development of new databases using the appropriate software systems. Receives data from multiple sources in multiple forms, including email, reviews the data, and processes it to meet a variety of administrative needs.

• May use database or spreadsheet software to enter, revise, sort, or calculate, and retrieve data for standard reports. Ensures that the accountable property is accounted for and utilized in the office.

You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the appropriate experience requirements.

GS-4: One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled; associate's degree or two years of successfully completed education above high school; and/or combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Examples of qualifying experience are: performing office work such as answering telephone calls, filing, typing, checking e-mails, opening mail, routing mail, making copies and scheduling meetings.

GS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level; bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school; and/or combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours} and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Examples of specialized experience are:  Performing general clerical support such as greeting visitors, maintaining files, and typing letters; assisting in the analysis of incoming routine and controlled correspondence, including mail, cables, faxes, and documents; reviewing sections of agency or organizational directives and procedures to perform routine tasks such as correspondence work, filing and processing mail.
