About the Agency

This is a Bargaining Unit Position  

 

This position is located at the Small Business Administration, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Administrative Systems Branch, which is located in Washington, DC.    

This announcement serves as a Merit and Delegated Examining Announcement.  You will be asked to determine your eligibility for each during the questionnaire process when you apply on line.

DUTIES:

  • Support administrative systems and components that comprise the end-user computing environment.
  • Provide technical support for all end-user hardware issues affecting laptops, desktops, tablets and mobile devices.
  • Provide end-user account set-up, deactivation, deletion and general management.
  • Maintain a centralized end-user ticket tracking system.

QUALIFICATIONS: GS-13: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service) obtained in either the private or public sector:

  • supporting the overall management of multi-office automation and communication systems of activities nationwide;
  • improving systems operations, resolving problems, and designing technical solutions;
  • evaluating equipment, software and investigating trends and patterns in information technology.

Your resume must also reflect your IT related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: 1. Attention to Detail; 2. Customer Service; 3. Oral Communication; and 4. Problem Solving

 

TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

The occupational questions relate to the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) required to do the work of this position:

1. Expert knowledge of the Windows Operating System desktop/laptop environment and associated third party commercial off-the-shelf applications hardware.

2. Knowledge of information technology capabilities and requirements to assemble and conduct feasibility studies for resolving critical problems in systems remotely.

3. Knowledge of client and server office applications, analysis techniques, data flow structures and advancements in information technology equipment.

4. Ability to communicate orally for the purpose of providing technical information and advice.

Candidates eligible for veterans' preference will be placed ahead of other candidates in the appropriate category for which they have been rated.  Additionally, preference eligibles who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent and who meet Minimum Qualification Requirements will automatically be placed in the Best Qualified Category.

Merit Promotion and Non-competitive applicants will  not be evaluated using Category Rating.  Applicants meeting basic requirements will further be evaluated on the information provided in the occupational questionnaire.
