If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for planning, implementing, and administering the full spectrum of budget and financial management operations for the Northern District of Indiana.  Typical work assignments will include:

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial management program that involves both short and long-range programmatic plans and the annual budget.
  • Developing financial polices to facilitate achievement of the program goals.
  • Advising management on the proper and effective utilization of all financial resources under the organization jurisdiction in accordance with a wide variety of laws and regulations.
  • Preparing, justifying, and executing the administrative budget for the office.
  • Ensuring all financial records, i.e., obligations, expenditures, delivery status, and available balances are accurate and support with proper fund control documentation to manage certification of obligations accurately.

GS-12:  To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level as defined below.

Specialized Experience  is defined as experience that equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties.  Examples of specialized experience include:  Knowledge of auditing techniques and the differences in the types of audit testing, audit risk, statistical sampling and projections as well as the use of estimates; understanding the relationship between propriety accounts/reports and budgetary accounts/reports; knowledge of and skill in using a financial management information system to enter data, track funds and developments; understanding of financial management techniques, to include accrual theory, internal controls, interpretation of financial reports, and basic accounting principles.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) - The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
