This position is located in the Information Technology Division, Headquarters, United States Marshals Service (USMS).  The incumbent serves as a Supervisory IT Program Manager responsible for directing and managing major USMS applications software projects.

Duties of the position include:

  • Serving as a Supervisory IT Program Manager responsible for managing and directing major USMS applications software projects.
  • Designing, documenting, developing, modifying, testing, installing, implementing, and supporting new or existing applications software supporting USMS nationwide.
  • Gathering, analyzing, refining, and translating systems requirements into applications prototypes.
  • Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to USMS management.
  • Planning and designing systems, databases, and applications architecture.
  • Demonstrating a mastery of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) process improvement approach and have involvement with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices within a government setting.
  • Ensuring software and systems functionality.
  • Exercising full supervisory responsibility over subordinate positions and providing technical or policy advice and guidance for work accomplishment.

To qualify for this position at the GS-14 level, you must meet the Basic Requirement below IN ADDITION TO the Specialized Experience requirements below. Your supporting documentation (i.e. resumes and transcripts) must fully support your responses to these questions.

Specialized Experience: In addition to the Basic Requirement above, applicants must also meet the Specialized Experience requirements in order to be considered. You must have one year (12-months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that included:

  • Directing and managing applications software projects;
  • Designing, documenting, developing, modifying, testing, installing, implementing, and supporting new or existing software applications projects; and
  • Exercising full supervisory or lead responsibility over an information technology staff.
