(A) Full time permanent positions; OR

The primary purpose of these positions are to...

Set up storage locations for assigned items and keep things neat and in order.

Receive and properly store items in appropriate areas.

Use bar code wand, labeling equipment, etc., to track assigned items.

Perform inventories and identify causes for overages/shortages to supply personnel.

Document actions and update records accurately.

Inspect returned items for damage and/or calibration requirements.

Determine if damaged tools are beyond repair and follow procedures for proper disposal.

Notify customer and issue items in a timely manner.

Perform recurring maintenance on equipment at appropriate intervals.

Maintain catalogs and initiate supply actions.

Obtain information from catalogs to initiate orders based on knowledge of common trade and shop jargon for tools/stock requested by customers.

Initiate supply actions in a timely manner, promptly follow up on overdue items, and provide accurate advice on possible substitutions.

Utilize safety practices and procedures; following established safety rules and regulations.

Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

The description of your work experience in your application (resume with acceptable format) must clearly demonstrate that you have gained and currently possess the following knowledge, skill, and abilities shown below to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position being filled:

1. Ability to do the work of Tools and Parts Attendant without more than normal supervision. (THIS IS A SCREENOUT ELEMENT. SCREENOUT ELEMENTS ARE THE CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES THAT ARE ESSENTIAL FOR SATISFACTORY JOB PERFORMANCE. APPLICANT MUST RECEIVE A MINIMUM OF TWO POINTS ON THE SCREENOUT ELEMENT TO BE DEEMED ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.)

2. Skill in setting up special storage locations for project assigned items and keeping things neat, clean, and in order.

3. Ability to inspect tools, parts, and equipment for visible damage and make determinations as to whether it can be repaired or not.

4. Ability to receive, store, issue, sign out, and check in various tools, equipment, and shop inventory.

5. Ability to interpret instructions, manufacturer's specifications, stock catalogs, and manual books.

6. Ability to utilize safety practices and procedures.


Physical Demands: Work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift and carry weights up to 10 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Working Environment: Work is generally done in areas that are well-lighted, heated, and ventilated. May occasionally work in areas that are drafty. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to cuts, scrapes, and bruises.

Other Significant Facts: Appointment is contingent upon passing a physical examination. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain appropriate background investigation or security clearance.

Candidates in this category are considered expert specialists in performing the duties of Tools and Parts Attendant. 

Category 2, Highly Qualified: Candidates in this category possess good skills and experience above the minimum experience requirements for the position of Tools and Parts Attendant.   

Category 3, Qualified: Candidates in this category meet the minimum experience requirements for the position of Tools and Parts Attendant.
