A specific length of time and experience is not required; however you must be able to demonstrate the experience shown in your written application, that you possess sufficient knowledge, skill and ability to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
Examples of experience for this position include: operating various types of heavy road building and maintenance equipment, working as a motor vehicle operator operating trucks of at least 80,000 gross vehicle weight (GVW) on an occasional basis or 54,000 gross vehicle weight (GVW) trucks on a regular basis, and transported personnel, materials, or equipment.
Applicants must be physically fit and, as required in Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Handbook X-118C, must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the elements listed in Section 25 of the Online Occupational Questionnaire to perform the duties of the position at the level for which they are applying.

You must meet level 2 on the screen out factor/element and an average of level 2 on all factors/elements.

Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
This is a Testing-Designated Position. Incumbent will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing and random drug/alcohol testing during employment.
You will be required to complete a 'Declaration of Federal Employment' (OF-306), prior to being appointed to determine your suitability for federal employment and to authorize a background investigation.
A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicants successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
Work is performed outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, lifting and working in cramped positions and climbing. Work requires prolonged standing and walking over a rough and uneven terrain with a backpack and/or tools. Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the position for which they are selected.
You will be required to wear the NPS uniform in compliance with regulations.
This position requires that you operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit a completed GSA Form 3607, Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. Your employment, after your tentative selection, will be contingent upon receipt of these documents in a timely manner and that those documents establish, to the satisfaction of the selecting official, that you possess a valid driver's license.
