The Agricultural Research Service is seeking qualified students to participate in the 2014 Pathways Internship Program. These temporary appointments are expected to begin in May and extend beyond the summer months. Internships are open to individuals who have been accepted for enrollment or who are enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) from a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis.
Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid.
This announcement will be used to fill full-time and part-time internship positions.

Appointments may be extended in accordance with Pathways Program guidelines.

Interns who are assigned to a GS-0399, Student Trainee (Administration and Office Support) position assist professional and technical staff by performing miscellaneous clerical duties in support of the work of the office. Typical, but not all-inclusive duties are illustrated by performance of any combination of the following:
Opening and distributing mail; preparing, receiving, reviewing, and verifying documents
Maintaining office records; filing material; locating and compiling data or information from files
Answering and referring telephone calls
Typing a variety of material including draft reports, memoranda and correspondence using a personal computer and related word processing software

All applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a student on at least a half-time schedule at a qualifying educational institution in a certificate, degree, or diploma program. You will be required to provide documentation to support your eligibility for the program. See the How to Apply section for details.
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below in order to qualify.
GS-1: Enrollment in a high School diploma or GED program.
GS-2: High School diploma or equivalent
GS-3: Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study
GS-4: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associates degree
GS-5: Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree
GS-7: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision after completing a bachelors degree
GS-9: Completion of all requirements for a master's degree or equivalent degree
GS-11: For research positions, completion of all requirements for a master's or equivalents degree
For non-research positions, completion of all requirements for a PhD or equivalent degree
You must submit a copy of your academic transcripts OR a list of college courses with credit hours, dates completed, and grade point average or class ranking to verify education when applying for this position.
