AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

AREA I:  All Excepted Technicians of the 108th Wing (WG)

AREA II:  All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

AREA III:  All members of the New Jersey National Guard

AREA IV: Any person eligible for membership in the NJANG

 

If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician in the New Jersey Air National Guard

 

APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:

Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered.   Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank.   If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion.

 

MILITARY POSITION:  108th Wing (WG).

 

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

MUST HAVE AFSC: 2A6X5

 

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:    MUST HAVE A SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS:  To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 56 in the Mechanical Area.  ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicant must obtsain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position.  The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/ Military Persersonnel Office.

Duties

The following list of duties is not conclusive but provides a brief snapshot of the duties that may be required for this position:  A copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:  Utilizing electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, schematics and technical publications, determines extent and type of preventative and/or repair maintenance required. Connects power sources, and using cockpit controls, gauges and additional performs operational and functional checks of in-flight refueling, single point refueling and fuel transfer systems and related valves. humps, switches, selectors, and control devices. Performs leak check of aircraft fuel systems by visual inspection or by removal of panels and dye tracing fuel leaks. Diagnoses and overhauls fuel accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examine parts for corrosion, scratches, cracks or other damage. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI. IG and DE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises.
