The Office of Information Technology (OIT) supports the Commission and staff of the SEC in all aspects of information technology. The office has overall management responsibility for the Commission's IT program including application development, infrastructure operations and engineering, user support, IT program management, capital planning, security, and enterprise architecture. The office operates the Electronic Data Gathering Analysis and Retrieval (EDGAR) system, which electronically receives, processes, and disseminates more than 500,000 financial statements every year. The office also maintains a very active website that contains a wealth of information about the Commission and the securities industry, and also hosts the EDGAR database for free public access.
This position is in the Office of Information Technology located in the Washington DC office.

If selected, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for maintaining the security processes and governance of IT programs and supporting the agency's overall mission to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation.  

Typical Duties Include:

  • Providing leadership and supervision to the Information Security Office's Security Engineering Branch
  • Coordinating and integrating plans, projects and operations with supported activities and other agencies as required
  • Assuring that risk management and information security is integrated with applicable standards to include the definition and validation of functional requirements, approval of management milestones, procurement of resources
  • Overseeing the planning, review, evaluation, implementation, coordination, and integration of security practices and capabilities into IT operations and systems
  • Applies information security expertise to implement unique information security approaches, solutions, guidance, standards, methods, processes and best business practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level working on large scale information systems projects and integrating security requirements into the design, development, and lifecycle management of information systems; applying National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), and/or other applicable government regulations and standards; and developing and executing IT projects management governance processes and managing support contracts.

 

All qualifying experience must demonstrate the following four competencies:
