As Biological Maintenance Equipment Specialist you will:

  • Ensure compliance with codes and standards for the US Government registry of biomedical devices.
  • Oversee and perform incoming inspection, acceptance, and testing for all medical equipment.
  • Interpret and evaluate biomedical equipment maintenance requirements and operational capabilities.
  • Collaborate with logisticians, contracting officers, compliance specialists, transportation managers and commercial vendors in coordinating maintenance activities, and providing managerial oversight for the operational readiness of biomedical equipment assets supporting the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS).

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

GS-12 Qualifying Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include life cycle management of biomedical equipment; biomedical equipment acquisition; scheduling preventive maintenance and repair; monitor maintenance service contract performance.

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

GS-13 Qualifying Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include life cycle management of biomedical equipment; evaluating and selecting biomedical equipment during acquisition phases and/or process (e.g. inspect, accept, test, maintain and calibrate a variety of biomedical equipment); developing, managing and evaluating biomedical maintenance service contracts and vendor performance; analyzing and resolving issues pertaining to biomedical maintenance operations.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily performed in an office setting although travel to storage facilities and/or other field locations will be required. The majority of the incumbent's duties are sedentary in nature; inspection and supervisory duties require walking, climbing, stooping, lifting, kneeling, crawling and reaching.

Work Environment: The work is performed in an office setting, project sites and field locations. Incumbent wears safety glasses, protective clothing, footwear, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. During disaster response and recovery phases of disaster management, the employee must be able to function for prolonged periods of time under austere and hightly stressful conditions. Employee may be assigned to a call schedule which will limit travel and may result in short notice recall to an assigned work area for prolonged period of time.
